Zirconia Grinding Ball Sets

The S4R Zirconia Grinding Ball Sets are preconfigured assortments of ceramic grinding media selected according to the nominal capacity of compatible laboratory milling jars.

Each set combines three grinding ball diameters in a supplier-defined ratio of 5:3:2. The selected diameter combination is intended to provide a balance between impact action, intermediate grinding and finer particle interaction during milling operations.

The grinding media consist of yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic containing 93% zirconium dioxide, 5% yttrium oxide and 2% other constituents. The material has a specific gravity of 6.0 g/cm³, a Vickers hardness of 1250 HV1 and a polished spherical surface.

Sets intended for 50 mL, 100 mL and 250 mL jars combine 5 mm, 8 mm and 10 mm grinding balls. Sets intended for 500 mL and 1 L jars combine 5 mm, 10 mm and 15 mm grinding balls.

Each set is prepared to represent approximately one-third of the corresponding nominal jar volume. This convenient format simplifies media selection and provides a ready-to-use starting configuration for laboratory grinding, mixing and homogenization.
