Manual Hydraulic
Coin Cell Crimper

Hand-operated crimping with analogue pressure monitoring

The S4R Manual Hydraulic Coin Cell Crimper is designed for laboratory coin-cell assembly. A hand-operated hydraulic pump generates the crimping load, while the front-mounted analogue gauge indicates hydraulic pressure.

The standard die set accommodates CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032 cells. Additional dies extend the machine to other specified formats and dedicated disassembly applications.

Standard configuration

Manual operation. Three cell formats.

CR2016 · CR2025 · CR2032
100 sets
CR2032 cases included

One standard crimping die set is included for all three listed formats. No electrical supply is required.

Designed for benchtop use outside gloveboxes This oil-hydraulic model is not suitable for glovebox installation because hydraulic oil leakage may occur during prolonged use.
Product highlights

A compact hydraulic platform for coin-cell assembly

01

Steel frame

A four-column steel structure supports the upper and lower tooling during crimping.

02

Manual hydraulic control

A pump lever, analogue gauge and pressure-release valve provide manual operation without electricity.

03

PTFE core

A corrosion-resistant PTFE core provides electrical insulation at the tooling contact to help reduce short-circuit risk during crimping.

04

Oil collection tray

An aluminium tray is supplied for placement beneath the machine to collect accidental hydraulic oil leakage.

Hydraulic control

Set the hydraulic pressure for the selected cell assembly

The pump is operated by hand, with pressure monitored on the analogue gauge. The documented reference range for CR20XX cell crimping is 850–1,000 psi, approximately 59–69 bar. Confirm the appropriate setting for the selected case, gasket, tooling and internal cell stack.

The hydraulic unit has a nominal maximum load rating of 8 tonne-force and incorporates automatic pressure relief. This component rating is not the recommended force to apply to a coin cell.

Hydraulic pressure and load are different quantities The gauge indicates hydraulic pressure. The 8 tonne-force value is a nominal load rating, not a pressure specification. The effective piston area is 11.34 cm².
Crimping cycles, not sustained pressure holding The integrated hydraulic pump is intended for cell assembly and is not designed to maintain high pressure continuously. Pressure can decrease after pumping stops.
Cell compatibility & tooling

One standard die set, with additional formats available

Compatibility depends on the installed die set. The standard package covers the three CR20XX formats listed below; other formats require the appropriate optional tooling.

Cell format / function Tooling Supply
CR2016 · CR2025 · CR2032 One standard hardened-steel crimping die set compatible with all three formats Included
CR2325 Dedicated crimping die set Optional
CR2450 Dedicated crimping die set Optional
AG3 · AG5 Crimping dies selected for the required case format Optional
Three-electrode CR2032 Dedicated crimping die core for compatible three-electrode cases Optional
Coin-cell disassembly Dedicated upper and lower de-crimping dies; confirm the required cell format when ordering Optional
Other case formats Specify the case dimensions for tooling compatibility review and quotation On request
Replaceable tooling Crimping dies are consumable components and can be replaced when worn. Optional tooling is additional to the standard package and must be specified in the quotation.

  • One crimping die set for CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032 cells.
  • 100 CR2032 coin cell case sets.
  • Aluminium oil collection tray.

Optional accessories

  • Crimping dies for CR2325, CR2450, AG3 and AG5 cases.
  • Dedicated crimping die core for three-electrode CR2032 cells.
  • De-crimping die sets for compatible coin cells.
  • Replacement crimping dies.
Case sets are empty cell housings The supplied CR2032 cases are intended for laboratory assembly. They are not assembled batteries.
Care & use

Keep the dies clean and use the correct crimping setup

  1. Match the die to the cell. Install the tooling specified for the case format and check its condition before assembly.
  2. Monitor hydraulic pressure. Use the appropriate setting for the cell configuration and follow the operating instructions. Excessive pressure can accelerate die wear.
  3. Clean after each use. Remove electrolyte residues using the prescribed cleaning procedure to limit corrosion of the tooling.
  4. Use the collection tray. Position the supplied aluminium tray beneath the machine and check for hydraulic oil leakage during routine maintenance.
