The S4R Electric Coin Cell Crimper combines a 24 V DC geared motor with a built-in load cell and digital display to control the applied crimping force during battery research.
Standard hardened-steel tooling accommodates CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032 coin cells. An adjustable die gap allows the setup to be matched to the selected case thickness.
Controlled electric crimping
tf = tonne-force. Cycle time is approximate and depends on the operating setup.
Force monitoring, electric actuation and interchangeable tooling
Digital force control
An integrated load cell and digital display provide direct monitoring of the applied crimping load.
Electric drive
A 24 V DC motor with reduction gearing drives the crimping mechanism.
Adjustable die gap
Mechanical gap adjustment accommodates the case thickness of the selected compatible coin-cell format.
Glovebox integration
A supplied power extension with KF40 feedthrough supports connection to an external power adapter.
Monitor the applied load throughout crimping
The built-in load cell measures the load applied by the crimping mechanism. Digital indication and force adjustment allow the crimping conditions to be set for the selected case and tooling combination.
The maximum crimping force is 1.35 tonne-force (1,350 kgf). The appropriate working setting depends on the case construction, gasket and internal cell assembly and should be established for the intended configuration.
Standard CR20XX tooling, with additional options
One hardened-steel crimping die assembly is included for the three standard formats below. Additional tooling is supplied only when specified in the configuration or quotation.
| Format / tooling | Configuration | Supply |
|---|---|---|
| CR2016 | Compatible with the standard crimping die assembly and appropriate gap adjustment | Included |
| CR2025 | Compatible with the standard crimping die assembly and appropriate gap adjustment | Included |
| CR2032 | Compatible with the standard crimping die assembly and appropriate gap adjustment | Included |
| Additional crimping die sets | Specify the required cell format for tooling selection and quotation | Optional |
| De-crimping die sets | Dedicated tooling for disassembling compatible coin cells | Optional |
| Three-electrode CR2032 | Dedicated crimping die core for compatible three-electrode cases | Optional |
External power connection through a KF40 feedthrough
The compact electric crimper is suitable for battery assembly in an inert-atmosphere glovebox. A power extension cable with KF40 feedthrough is included.
Power supply
The supplied adapter accepts 110–240 V AC, 50/60 Hz, and powers the machine's 24 V DC drive. The KF40 feedthrough allows the adapter to remain outside the glovebox.
Installation clearance
Check the glovebox transfer chamber, internal working space and cable routing for the selected configuration, including the protection shield if ordered.
Transparent protection shield with safety interlock
An acrylic safety enclosure is available around the crimping area. Its transparent panels retain visibility of the tooling, while the access door incorporates a safety interlock.
The enclosure shown in the product photographs is optional. Select this accessory when ordering if it is required for your installation.

Standard supply and optional accessories
Included in the standard package
- Electric coin cell crimper with load cell and digital display.
- One hardened-steel crimping die assembly for CR2016, CR2025 and CR2032.
- AC/DC power adapter.
- Power extension cable with KF40 feedthrough.
- 100 CR2032 coin cell case sets for initial assembly trials.
Available as options
- Transparent protection shield with safety interlock.
- Additional crimping die sets.
- De-crimping die sets.
- Dedicated crimping die core for three-electrode CR2032 cases.
Protect the tooling and the PTFE ejector
-
1
Clean after use. Remove electrolyte residues from the die set after each use using the prescribed cleaning procedure to limit corrosion.
-
2
Adjust the ejector carefully. The spring-loaded PTFE component assists cell release after crimping. Excessive adjustment can deform or damage it; follow the operating instructions.
-
3
Validate the assembly conditions. Match the die gap and working force to the selected case, gasket and internal stack before preparing a series of cells.
