Natural Agate Pestle
The S4R Laboratory-Grade Natural Agate Pestle is designed for the manual grinding, crushing, mixing and homogenization of solid laboratory samples.
Manufactured from selected natural agate, the pestle combines high hardness, good wear resistance and a smooth polished surface. Its rounded grinding end provides effective contact with the internal surface of a compatible agate mortar, while its tapered body offers comfortable handling during manual grinding operations.
The agate material contains approximately 97.26 wt% SiO₂, with the remaining fraction consisting of MgO, CaO and Mn₂O₃. With a Mohs hardness of 7.2–7.5 and an elastic modulus greater than 70 GPa, it is suitable for repeated laboratory sample-preparation work.
Standard pestle lengths are available from 40 mm to 220 mm, with the diameter increasing according to the intended mortar size. Each pestle should be selected according to the internal diameter of the mortar with which it will be used.
Custom pestles can also be manufactured with specific lengths and diameters. If the required size is not included in the standard range, please contact S4R with the mortar internal diameter and the required pestle dimensions.
Because agate is a natural material, slight variations in color, banding, translucency and surface appearance may occur between individual products. These natural variations do not affect the intended laboratory use of the pestle.
