Kapton-window coin cell cases for in-situ X-ray analysis
Build coin cells with a defined X-ray access window for electrode studies during electrochemical cycling. Choose the case format and window arrangement to match your sample stack, holder and measurement geometry.
Choose your configuration
All configurations contain five case sets. The single-window version has a window on the positive side; the double-window version has one on each side.
| Configuration | Window arrangement |
|---|---|
| CR2016 — 1 window | Positive side; solid negative case |
| CR2016 — 2 windows | Positive and negative sides |
| CR2032 — 1 window | Positive side; solid negative case |
| CR2032 — 2 windows | Positive and negative sides |
Photos show one representative case set. Window diameter is the same across the four configurations.
Technical specifications
| Parameter | Specification |
|---|---|
| Product type | Empty coin-cell casings for laboratory cell assembly |
| Case formats | CR2016 or CR2032 |
| Window material | Kapton polyimide film |
| Window diameter | Ø10 mm |
| Film thickness | 0.18 mm (180 µm) |
| Positive-side coating | Aluminium coating; thickness <0.01 mm (<10 µm) |
| Sealing ring | Polypropylene (PP) |
| CR2016 nominal dimensions | Ø20 × 1.6 mm |
| Pack quantity | 5 sets; each set includes positive and negative case halves and a sealing ring |
| Assembly | Crimping with tooling suitable for the selected case format |
Nominal case dimensions do not define the usable internal stack height. Confirm the assembly drawing and tooling clearance if fit is critical.
Measurement and assembly
Match the beam path
Select one or two windows according to the instrument geometry. Transmission and background depend on beam energy, window coating, current collectors and the sample. The double-window design is also offered for neutron diffraction studies; check its suitability with the instrument team.
Prepare the cell stack
Use a suitable spacer and spring arrangement for the chosen format. Carbon-based current collectors can reduce attenuation relative to metal foils, subject to the electrochemical requirements. Protect the windows from puncture and excessive pressure during assembly.
Supply and accessories
Included in the pack
Five positive case halves, five negative case halves and five PP sealing rings. The selected window arrangement applies to every set in the pack.
Required separately
Electrodes, separator, electrolyte, spacers, springs, crimper and measurement holder. These components are not included.
