Controlled three-electrode testing in a robust stainless steel architecture
Designed for advanced electrochemical research, this three-electrode cell combines an original 316 stainless steel body with three independently accessible metallic contacts, adjustable mechanical compression and direct potentiostat connection.
Its three-contact architecture supports working, counter and reference connections while retaining a compact, fully disassemblable construction for convenient installation, cleaning and repeated laboratory use.
Engineered for controlled three-electrode measurements
A modular PFA platform providing independent electrode access, chemical resistance and straightforward assembly.
316 Stainless Steel Body
Original 316 stainless steel body and compression sealing components.
Three Three independent Contacts
Three independent working, counter and reference connections for potentiostatic measurements.
Configurable Contacts
316 stainless steel, aluminum or titanium contact options.
Direct Potentiostat Access
Three independently accessible 2 mm connection points for working, counter and reference channels.
Original 316 stainless steel construction
The cell is built around an original 316 stainless steel body with three sealed electrode ports and Swagelok compression components. PFA offers excellent chemical inertness for demanding electrochemical environments.
The body can be fully disassembled for sample installation, access to the third electrode port, cleaning and replacement of internal components. As the body is electrically conductive, electrical isolation must be maintained between the standard plungers and the body.
Three independently accessible electrode contacts
The cell provides three independent metallic contacts corresponding to the working, counter and reference electrodes. In the standard configuration, insulating films must be positioned between each plunger and the conductive stainless steel body.
Spring-loaded compression and stack adjustment
The internal spring applies mechanical preload to the main electrochemical stack and helps maintain contact between the opposed electrodes, separator and metallic contact surfaces.
Removable spacers allow the main compression assembly to be adjusted according to the thickness of the selected electrode stack.
PTFE compression ferrule sealing
The three electrode ports use 316 Stainless Steel compression nuts and ferrule assemblies. Tightening each nut compresses its ferrule around the corresponding metallic contact to create a secure mechanical seal.
0.05 mm Mylar insulation films
The conductive stainless steel body must be electrically isolated from standard metallic plungers. Thin Mylar films, also known as PET or polyester electrical-insulation films, are installed between the plungers and the cell body.
The required film thickness is 0.05 mm. Correct placement is necessary to prevent unintended electrical contact while preserving the compact geometry of the assembly. The Mylar films are not supplied with the standard cell.
Three independent connections to the potentiostat
Each metallic contact includes a transverse 2 mm opening, allowing separate connection of the working, counter and reference channels to compatible potentiostat leads.
Fully accessible modular assembly
The exploded view illustrates the relationship between the three-port 316 stainless steel body, compression nuts, ferrules, metallic contacts, spring and adjustment spacers.
Compact and practical cell architecture
The dimensional drawing identifies the principal external dimensions, three-port body geometry and the positions of the electrical connection points.
Technical specifications
Principal specifications for the standard 1/4-inch three-electrode configuration.
Included components
Supplied as a three-electrode stainless steel cell assembly. Required 0.05 mm Mylar insulation films are not included.
