Key features

Compact equipment for controlled cylindrical-cell sealing

A manually driven platform combining hydraulic force, pressure monitoring and dedicated cell-format tooling.

5 t hydraulic drive

Manual hydraulic mechanism providing pressing force up to 5 tonnes for cylindrical-cell crimping.

Integrated pressure gauge

Analog hydraulic pressure monitoring provides direct visual control during the crimping operation.

Interchangeable tooling

Dedicated crimping dies allow the same equipment platform to be configured for multiple cylindrical cell formats.

Two-step precision crimping

18650 and 21700 tooling uses a two-step crimping sequence designed to progressively form the case rim after grooving.

Crimping tooling

Dedicated dies for each cell format

Seven standard die formats are available, plus custom tooling on request. Each cylindrical cell format requires its corresponding dedicated die.

Cell-closing workflow

Grooving before final crimping

Cylindrical cases must be correctly prepared before the final cap-sealing operation.

01
Groove the case
Form the required circumferential groove in the upper section of the cylindrical case before final closure.
02
Position the assembly
Place the prepared cylindrical case and cap assembly into the dedicated die for the selected format.
03
Final crimping
Apply the manual hydraulic crimping sequence to form and mechanically close the upper rim of the case.

Applications

Laboratory cylindrical-cell fabrication

Intended for research, development and low-volume prototype cylindrical-cell assembly.

Battery R&D
Final mechanical sealing of experimental cylindrical cells during laboratory fabrication.
Prototype fabrication
Suitable for low-volume cylindrical-cell development where manual control and interchangeable tooling are required.
Multi-format development
One equipment platform can support several cell formats through dedicated crimping dies.
Important information

Tooling and operating requirements

Case grooving is required The upper section of the cylindrical case must be correctly grooved before the final crimping operation. The crimping machine is intended for final closure and does not replace the preceding grooving operation.
Dedicated tooling for each format Each cylindrical cell format requires the corresponding crimping die. Compatibility should be confirmed for the exact case geometry used in the assembly process.
18650 and 21700 two-step tooling The 18650 and 21700 configurations use a two-step precision crimping sequence intended to progressively form the rim of a correctly grooved cylindrical case.
Benchtop operation This hydraulic configuration is intended for operation outside the glovebox. For processes requiring crimping directly inside a controlled-atmosphere glovebox, a suitable pneumatic configuration should be used instead.
4680 cells 4680 tooling is not included in the documented compatibility range of this machine. A larger-format crimping platform should be selected for 4680 cell fabrication.
